About Me
Serhii Tereshchenko is a specialist in Slavic studies. He serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the Russian program at the State University of New York, Albany. Additionally, he is a Practicing Assistant Professor of Ukrainian at the University of North Carolina. He earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University, where his doctoral research examined tropes of alterity in Soviet and Polish science fiction.
Dr. Tereshchenko’s diverse research interests span comparative linguistics, film and literary theory, and computational humanities. He is currently developing two book monographs: one exploring race and nation in Polish hip-hop, Places of Belonging: Race, Gender, and Nation in Polish Hip Hop (submitted to Palgrave Macmillan), and another examining emancipatory Soviet science fiction, The Other Way Out: Emancipatory Soviet Science Fiction in 1956-1992.
