Calling Undergraduate Digital Scholars in Ukrainian Studies
Are you an undergraduate working on a digital project related to Ukraine or Ukrainian studies? Whether you are building a small prototype or polishing a capstone project, we would love to hear from you.
We invite students in digital studies, digital humanities, media studies, computer science, history, political science, literature, and related fields to share their work that engages with Ukraine. Your project might explore contemporary events, cultural heritage, language, diaspora communities, or any other aspect of Ukrainian life and history.
What kinds of projects are we looking for?
We welcome a wide range of formats, including (but not limited to):
- Interactive data visualizations and dashboards
- Digital archives, collections, and exhibits
- Small games or playable experiences
- Interactive timelines and story maps
- Text analysis projects, bots, or experiments with AI
- Multimedia essays, podcasts, and video projects
Your project does not need to be “finished” to be of interest. If you are in the early stages, piloting ideas, or developing a course assignment into something larger, we are happy to talk about possibilities.
How we can support you
There are several ways to get involved:
- Publish your work: Send us an inquiry about sharing your research or showcasing your digital project on our site.
- Subscribe for updates: Stay informed about calls for contributions, workshops, and opportunities in Ukrainian digital scholarship.
- Individual research counseling: Schedule a one-on-one conversation for tailored feedback and mentoring, especially if you are considering further research or graduate study in Ukrainian studies.
We are especially eager to hear from students and early-career researchers who may not yet see themselves as “experts” but are curious, engaged, and willing to experiment.
Ready to reach out?
If you are working on (or dreaming about) a digital project connected to Ukraine, please do not wait until everything feels perfect. Introduce yourself, tell us a bit about your idea, and let us know how we can support you.
Undergraduates at any stage of their project are welcome to contact us, including those exploring topics, seeking collaborators, or looking for feedback on early drafts and prototypes.
